Massage Treatments

Swedish massage

Swedish massage is an excellent tool for restoring and maintaining optimum health. Whether you have a recent injury, a chronic strain or just need to de-stress from daily life, massage can provide relief from your symptoms. By releasing muscle tension, aiding the circulatory and lymphatic systems, lowering blood pressure and promoting endorphin production, massage therapy can:

  • Induce relaxation

  • Reduce stress and fatigue

  • Ease pain

  • Rejuvenate aching, knotted muscles

  • Increase range of movement

  • Increase circulation

By using a combination of gliding strokes with kneading, stretching and friction, massage can increase circulation of blood and lymph and aid elimination of metabolic wastes.

Remedial/deep tissue massage

This focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue to relieve chronic muscle tension or injury.

Deep tissue techniques may result in some some discomfort and residual pain for a day or two following the treatment as massage releases toxins into the body from the massaged tissue. You need to drink plenty of water for a while after the massage to flush your body of these toxins.

Most sessions will start with lighter pressure to warm the muscles and move slowly into the deeper pressure. It must be done this way because, if deep pressure is applied immediately, the muscles will automatically tighten for protection. This could result in more pain and possibly injury, so the massage begins initially with less pressure.

Testimonials

"Lynn puts you at ease straight away and tailors the massage to your likes and dislikes. She is very professional yet friendly. The premises are great and I liked being able to relax over a cup of tea before heading home. A great way to de-stress after a hard day at work. Will definitely make a return appointment".
